Low-cost carrier Wizz Air, which recently announced plans to introduce Starlink internet on its flights in 2027, has launched a new direct route between Menorca and Budapest, further strengthening air links between Spain and Hungary as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.

It will connect Menorca Airport with Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. Flights will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from €35.99.
The Spanish airport operator highlighted the addition of the new route, which is expected to boost connectivity at Menorca Airport during the busy summer travel season.
The new connection has been made possible by the allocation of a nineteenth aircraft to Wizz Air's Budapest base and forms part of the airline's broader investment in the Spanish market.
More Flights to Barcelona and Malaga
Alongside the Menorca launch, Wizz Air is also increasing capacity on two of its existing Spanish routes. From June, flights between Barcelona and Budapest will rise to 16 weekly services, while the Málaga to Budapest route will be expanded to as many as seven flights per week.

Spain remains one of Wizz Air's most important markets. The carrier currently operates more than 130 routes from the country, connecting Spanish airports with 31 destinations across 16 countries.
Wizz Air reported strong performance in Spain during 2025, operating more than 44,000 flights to and from the country and carrying nearly 10 million passengers. The airline also achieved a flight completion rate of 99.85%, one of the highest figures in the industry.
The latest expansion comes as European airlines continue to increase capacity on leisure routes ahead of the peak summer season, with demand for city breaks and Mediterranean destinations remaining strong.
For travelers in Menorca, the new Budapest service opens a direct gateway to Hungary's capital, while Hungarian passengers gain easier access to one of Spain's most popular Balearic Islands destinations.
