Worst Combo: Roadworks and Heatwave Ahead of Busy Weekend at European Airport

Prague Airport is advising passengers to prepare for a demanding start to the holiday season, with a mix of heavy weekend traffic, ongoing road construction near the airport, and high summer temperatures expected to slow down travel.

Airport officials say the coming days are likely to be among the busiest of the season, with increased passenger numbers coinciding with infrastructure works close to key access routes. Drivers approaching the airport should expect delays, particularly around the intersection currently under reconstruction.

Travelers are being urged to allow extra time for their journey and arrive at the terminal earlier than usual to avoid missing flights. The airport also recommends using online and self-service check-in options where available to reduce time spent in queues.

Security procedures are expected to remain strict, with passengers reminded to check travel document requirements in advance. Authorities also highlighted ongoing rules around liquids in hand luggage, encouraging passengers to double-check packing restrictions before arriving at the terminal. Electronics should be packed properly to ensure smooth security screening.

With temperatures set to rise significantly over the weekend, airport staff are also placing emphasis on passenger well-being. Travelers are encouraged to stay hydrated throughout their journey, and drinking water refill stations are available inside the terminal.

Officials are asking passengers to prepare ahead of time at home, including organizing documents, packing efficiently, and reviewing airline procedures before heading to the airport. The aim is to reduce congestion and improve the overall travel experience during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Despite the expected challenges, airport authorities say normal operations will continue, with staff deployed to manage passenger flow and assist travelers where needed.
