The airport has announced that Eurowings will launch a new direct service between Prague and Rovaniemi, widely known as the official hometown of Santa Claus. The seasonal route will begin on December 20, 2026, and operate every Sunday through February 21, 2027, using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Petri Vuori, Finavia’s Senior Vice President responsible for route development: "Rovaniemi’s international appeal continues to grow, and the new flight connections play an important role in building smooth connections for tourists. It's great to see that Eurowings is also expanding its offering to Lapland from Prague."
The addition of Rovaniemi comes amid strong demand for holiday travel across Europe. Eurowings recently reported a significant increase in bookings, with its package holiday business seeing reservations rise by around 70% compared with last year. Mallorca and destinations in Greece remain among the airline's most popular choices for summer 2026.

During the upcoming winter season, the airline will operate flights to Rovaniemi from Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Hamburg, further strengthening connections between Central Europe and northern Finland.
Eurowings belongs to the Lufthansa Group, which is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Prague Airport has also been particularly active in announcing new routes in recent weeks. Earlier this month, SkyAlps revealed plans to launch direct flights from Prague to Bolzano, providing travelers with easier access to the Italian Alps and some of Europe's premier skiing destinations.
In addition, low-cost carrier flyadeal entered the Prague market with new services to Riyadh and Jeddah, significantly expanding the airport's connectivity with the Middle East.
