Air Serbia will launch direct flights between Cluj-Napoca and Belgrade on May 31, 2027, giving travelers in Transylvania a new connection to Serbia and the airline’s wider international network.

Four Times a Week

The Serbian national carrier will operate the route four times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, using ATR 72 aircraft with 72 seats. Tickets are already available through the airline’s website.

The new service will be the first direct air link between Cluj-Napoca and the Serbian capital. It is also expected to provide passengers with additional connecting options through Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, including flights to destinations in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Air Serbia’s North American network includes New York, Chicago and Toronto. Flights to Miami are scheduled to begin on June 24, 2027. The airline also serves Shanghai and a range of European and Middle Eastern destinations.

Flight Schedule

The published schedule lists different departure times depending on the day of operation.

On Mondays and Fridays, flights from Belgrade are scheduled to arrive in Cluj-Napoca at 3:30 p.m., with the return service departing at 4 p.m.

On Thursdays and Saturdays, the Belgrade flight is scheduled to arrive at 3:10 a.m., followed by a return departure at 4:40 a.m. All times are local and may change.

Alin Tișe, president of the Cluj County Council, said the route could support economic and trade relations, tourism and cooperation between the region and Serbia.

Viorel Federiga, president of the board of directors of Cluj International Airport, said the launch reflects the airport’s efforts to attract new airlines and expand its destination network.

David Ciceo, the airport’s general manager, highlighted the connecting opportunities available through Air Serbia, particularly for travelers seeking routes to North America and other international destinations.

Air Serbia has operated under its current name since October 2013 and traces its aviation history to the establishment of Aeroput in 1927. Its fleet includes Airbus, ATR and Embraer aircraft.

The new route adds another option for passengers traveling between Transylvania and the Balkans, while offering access to Air Serbia’s wider network through Belgrade.
