The incident involved American Airlines Flight 308 and occurred at around 6 p.m. local time on Friday, June 26. The FAA said the flight crew rejected the takeoff after the unauthorized runway crossing, preventing what could have become a serious safety incident.
The agency has launched an investigation into the runway incursion to determine how the business jet entered the active runway.
The FAA noted that the information released so far is preliminary and remains subject to change as investigators gather additional evidence.
No injuries have been reported, and the FAA has not identified the business jet involved or released further details about the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized runway crossing.
