Portable Chargers

Israel's largest airline has updated its carry-on baggage requirements, joining companies around the world in banning the use of portable chargers (power banks) on the company's flights, due to concerns about the lithium battery catching fire

As of January 15, 2026, the use and charging of backup batteries during flights on the Lufthansa and SWISS Group is prohibited, including a limit of two batteries per passenger and storage only in hand luggage. What about other airlines?

Qantas has adopted stricter safety procedures: passengers may bring up to two portable chargers on board, but they may not use or charge them during the flight. The ban will also apply to Jetstar and QantasLink
