The WHO says the MV Hondius hantavirus outbreak is nearing its end after tracing more than 600 contacts in 33 countries

Spain's Health Ministry has confirmed a new hantavirus infection in a quarantined contact already under monitoring at Madrid’s Gómez Ulla Hospital

One Spanish passenger isolated at Gómez Ulla Hospital has tested positive for hantavirus after previously testing "provisionally positive" upon arrival. Spain's Secretary of State for Health said that the imposed protection measures were "greater than what might be considered for a contact". HSC update on U.S. citizen: "inconclusive, and subsequently negative"

France enacts strict isolation measures

A Civil Guard officer has died during evacuation operations linked to the MV Hondius ship carrying passengers affected by the hantavirus. Spanish Minister of Health: the last 28 passengers will disembark this afternoon in the Canary Islands, and 26 will continue on board heading to the Netherlands

The US is airlifting 17 Americans from the MV Hondius after an Andes hantavirus outbreak, with two passengers placed in biocontainment units. One has tested mildly positive to PCR testing for the Andes hantavirus, and another is currently exhibiting mild symptoms

One of the repatriated passengers showed symptoms during the rescue flight from the North Atlantic. The French Defense Minister announced a special decree to allow isolation measures to be applied to contact cases. The European Commission representation in Spain: "Following Spain's request under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, a rescEU air ambulance is being deployed from Norway to Tenerife"
