Flight UA613 from Lagos, to Washington D.C. had to return to its origin after a technical malfunction and unusual movement of the plane caused injuries to the six. United Airlines: "The company is working in cooperation with aviation authorities in the U.S. and Nigeria to understand the circumstances of this unusual incident."

The unusual incident occurred on flight 323 from Milwaukee to Seattle. The passenger remained on the plane's wing until medical personnel and law enforcement escorted her. Another incident happened on another company flight on December 26, where several passengers and crew members needed medical attention due to severe turbulence during the flight
